How Asanike, Oyo South Senatorial Aspirant’s Men Stormed Abuja

AHEAD of the Saturday, March 26 national convention of the All Progressive Party, APC, holding in Abuja, a group of politicians named Ayeyemi has arrived the capital city to show its support for Prince Kolawole Asanike who is aspiring for the Oyo South senatorial seat.

Delegates across the country from the party will converge at the Eagle’s Square in Abuja on Saturday to elect new executives who will take over the affairs of the party from the governor Mai Mala Buni led Caretaker and Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee, CECPC.

The convention which is expected to be presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari is in line with part of the Independent Electoral Commission, INEC, regulations in preparation for the 2023 general elections which the commission has earlier released its timetable.

At the Eagle’s Square, posters bearing Asanike’s aspiration were seen donning all spaces on Friday evening.

Our correspondent reports that a contingent of men and women from Oyo State were seen at the Eagle’s Square; venue of the convention and in some populous locations in the capital drumming support for their principal as an article of faith and love.

Prince Sheriff Adedeji, the Personal Assistant, PA, to Asanike told our correspondent that they were in Abuja “not only for the party’s convention but to celebrate Prince Kola Asanike” in the eyes of the people.

” We are here in Abuja for many reasons. It is not only for the party’s convention but also to celebrate our principal, Prince Asanike.

Another supporter and a leader from the Southeast local government area of Oyo State where Asanike hails, who identified himself simply as Comrade Raji expressed his satisfaction in the size of the continent that came to Abuja to give moral support to the accountant turned politician.

He said, ” It is though true we are here for the convention of our party, it is our pleasure to market to the world the quality of our product. We believe in Asanike as a man of integrity whose honesty and righteousness are tested.”

The Director-General of the Asanike campaign organization, Alh. Mojeed Atere in another development, noted that his priincipal, a scion of the late Olubadan of Ibadanland, HRH, Alh Yiusuf Oloyede Asanike, would not behave like an usual political functionary if voted as Senator in 2023 election.

“I’m his righthand man and you know what stake I represent with him and it’s implication to my personal image. What you can see in Abuja as a reflection of support is nothing compared to what is obtained in Oyo State.”
