Oyo APC Reps’ Primaries: Violence, Gunshots As Residents Scamper For Safety

Residents and commuters along Molete, Idi Odo, Felele and Challenge areas of Ibadan were thrown into confusion on Friday evening, as violence erupted at the Genesis Hotel, Ibadan venue of the House of Representatives’ primary election of the All Progressives Congress, APC, to decide candidate for National Assembly seat.

APC thugs could be seen bearing dangerous weapons including knives and dane guns, as gunshots were fired sporadically.

Motorists and residents scampered for safety, cursing the opposition party for its desperate politics and penchant for violence.

Investigations showed that the APC Congress had not been able to agree on the way forward as of 7.51 p.m., with different groups resorting to violence and dangerous attacks.

Commuters coming from Molete were forced to take a u-turn at the St. Annes Roundabout or take a detour towards Children Home School/Anfaani.

It cannot be ascertained whether or not lives have been lost in the fracas, but residents who managed to beat the danger confirmed that the gunshots would, no doubt, have hit a few people.

Insideoyo.com reports that there was violence in Ibarapa North and cental federal constituency as mob attacked Hon Muraina Ajibola.

Muraina is a serving lawmaker who recently joined the party from the People’s Democratic Party, PDP was accused of bringing fake electoral officials with fake list.

A development that led to gunshot and mob attack.

Also in Saki West, Saki East and Atisbo Federal Constituency, election could not hold due to violence.

An aspirants was accused of using thugs to intimidate and attack others at the venue of the election.

Similarly in Egbada / Ona Ara Federal Constituency, election failed to hold as party members including former aide to Late Governor Abiola Ajimobi, Mr Bolaji Afies Repete protested against fake delegate list.

Oluyole Federal Constituency election also could not hold as the aspirants failed to agree on delegates list.

Meanwhile, insideoyo.com gathered that there was consensus arrangement in Ogbomoso North, South, Oriire Federal Constituency that led to the emergence of Lamiju Alao Akala, son of Late Former Governor Adebayo Alao Akala.
